Mentalizing and MBT

"Mentalizing' (or 'mentalization') is a word which refers to the human ability to think about other people's thoughts and feelings, and to be aware of our own thoughts and feelings.. It is a core idea of Mentalizing Based Therapy (MBT) which is one of my preferred ways of working with individuals and families. MBT is a useful approach a wide range of problems but particularly for helping people with borderline personality disorder. .

This page on family therapy has some more information on mentalizing..
